Christopher Nolan’s three-hour drama “Oppenheimer” took the lead in nominations with 13 nods. Cillian Murphy, the Irish actor portraying physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in the race to develop the first atomic bomb, claimed the Best Actor award. Murphy faced stiff competition from Paul Giamatti, the star of “The Holdovers”.

Emma Stone claimed the Best Actress award for her performance in “Poor Things”, surpassing Lily Gladstone. Gladstone, nominated for her role as Mollie Burkhart in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon”, became the first Native American to receive a nomination in the Best Actress category.
