Most women in India feel that men should not know about the menstrual cycle. Major men consider menstruation an impure or dirty thing to talk about. What makes men think so is the question
Is it the blood? Or the organ from which the hemic oozes out?
Tina had a cut on her hand and bright red blood oozing out. Tej ran and helped her but when the same blood oozed out and stained her dress Tej laughed at her. She ran and ran and ran to cover, hide, conceal, veil.
How long should a woman run?
Days, months, years?
It’s that blood that defines her.
It’s that blood where life roots.
It’s that blood that gives her strength.
And why should she be afraid?
Let her phizog rise in the air while carrying her sanitary napkin without wrapping it in a newspaper or holding her menstrual cup and show that she has a period. Let’s tell her that hiding her period and her napkin is not a solution but disposing of it without embarrassment makes it. Let’s tell all that it’s not the blood or the organ that makes her pure or impure but being human makes her better.
