CINEMA IS AN INFLUENTIAL MEDIA: I will justify this above sentence with a few Indian examples. But before that, have you ever wondered, what if the cinema you are watching is propaganda to influence you and the filmmaker is setting an agenda and making you consume? Who decides and controls the medium of cinema? Who invests in making these cinemas?

THIS IS NOT CENSORED

Sripada Studios get you the brief on the film influence and censor usage.

CINEMA IS AN INFLUENTIAL MEDIA

I will justify this above sentence with a few Indian examples. But before that, have you ever wondered, what if the cinema you are watching is propaganda to influence you and the filmmaker is setting an agenda and making you consume? Who decides and controls the medium of cinema? Who invests in making these cinemas?

Well, this article will give some examples, facts about these above questions and also censorship.

According to the world, Indian cinema is only Bollywood. They won’t even consider other language industries as Indian cinema. Either the other regional cinema should be dubbed or remade into Hindi language, then it would be considered as the typical ‘Indian Cinema’.

Oh… Are you thinking now for an example? Think well, because this is true.

And I strongly say “INDIAN CINEMA CONSISTS OF 22 LANGUAGES AND ALL THE CINEMAS PRODUCED IN THOSE LANGUAGES SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS THE INDIAN CINEMA”. Uff. enough of bold letters.

Let me come to the justification part. Cinema is such an influential medium, it would probably make you think of what you can do more or give a different dimension to your thoughts and beliefs. It’s the art of increasing the heartbeat through various emotions. Okay, now you may think, do people get influenced by cinema? I bet, YESSSS!!! THEY DO.

Recently, Bahubali’s first part ends the question ‘Why did Katappa kill Bhaubali?”, Rajnikanth’s style and preaching lessons of life in his cinema, D’Boss [Darshan] attitude, and comeback in his movies are very influential to the mass are few examples. Fans and their celebration is a different talk than influence in common. We have seen people following their favourite heroes or directors.

These are commercial pictures that are made to the masses with many so-called ‘Indian’ factors.

Let’s talk about the period of 2018 and 2019 which increased National Integrity, Patriotism, and also anti-congress people or pro-BJP chowkidars. Yes, have you ever noticed that in the 2019 election – Cinema became a huge medium to influence the citizens? Let me explain, even though I didn’t have any idea until I started observing, analyzing critically.

(Hindi) Uri – The Surgical Strike, (Telugu) NTR [Mahanayakadu and Katha Nayakadu], (Hindi) the Accidental Prime Minister, (Bengali and Hindi) Thackeray, (Hindi) PM Narendra Modi, (Tamil) LKG. Along with these movies ‘Sacred Games’ (A Hindi web series released on Netflix) also became an influential factor in Indian Politics.

All these movies were literally ‘Anti Congress’ and ‘Pro BJP’, portraying directly and indirectly.

  • LKG stood differently in mocking all the parties and their strategies.
  • Sacred Games, NTR [both parts] included various sequences regarding the Ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi rule and the Emergency period.
  • Uri – enhanced the idea of a surgical strike and gave more power to BJP supporters.
  • Thackrey and the Accidental Prime Minister influenced people through personal stories that indirectly opposed the Congress Party.

Were you influenced by these strategies and voted for BJP? Hope you didn’t. We can also think these movies shed light on the scams and mistakes made by Congress. And this came out while BJP was in power. What was the censor board doing then and now?

In the name of Obscenity, Nudity, National Security, Hate Speech movies should be banned. But, many times a film is a ban because of these un-noticeable issues were Political influence, the Idea of ‘the Indian Culture’ as per the CBFC [Central Board of Film certification], the idea of feminism, and the idea of bisexual or gay sex, personal clashes between the board and filmmakers.

Some of the movies are Bandit Queen, Udta Punjab, Sexy Durga, Lipstick under my burkha, Viswaroopam, Madras Café, Sins, Water, Padmavat, and 42 more were banned.

Just think of the content while you watch the movie and the portrayal of any character or subject or any issue they are speaking about.
